The National Keratoconus Foundation (NKCF) is an outreach program of the non-profit organization Discovery Eye Foundation, which provides information and support to persons diagnosed with keratoconus. Keratoconus is a thinning disorder of the cornea that causes distortion and reduced vision. The NKCF publishes a newsletter, distributes patient information booklets, provides physician referrals, helps start local support groups and maintains a website for patient information and discussion. The new sponsor, SynergEyes, Inc, is a specialty contact lens company headquartered in Carlsbad, California. With FDA-clearance specifically designed for patients with keratoconus, the SynergEyes® hybrid contact lens provides a stable, high oxygen permeable rigid center that delivers crisp, clear vision, while the outer skirt gives wearers the all-day comfort of a soft lens. "SynergEyes is proud to be a sponsor of the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for the thousands of people suffering with keratoconus." said Kellie Kaseburg, Vice President of Global Marketing for SynergEyes, Inc. SynergEyes supports the mission of the NKCF to improve the quality of life for those with keratoconus by making educational material available to them, their families and their eye care professionals. NKCF Director Catherine Warren states, "The SynergEyes lenses meet the needs of many keratoconus patients. We welcome SynergEyes, Inc. as our newest sponsor."
