Why We Support Translational Research

Share The aim of our translational research projects is to produce information and technology that can directly help in the diagnosis and treatment of blinding eye disease. The faster we can translate what we learn in the lab into viable options for the patient, the better.

The aim of all our research support is to help translate new technology into improved outcomes for patients with these diseases.
DEF supported research in corneal disease, retinal disease and glaucoma is reported at national and international meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals. This enables researchers and clinicians everywhere to make use of these sight saving breakthroughs.
DEF currently supports important sight saving research at 8 universities world wide. Locally, in Southern California, DEF collaborates principally with physician and laboratory researchers affiliated with University of California, Irvine and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
