The Discovery Eye Foundation (DEF) has partnered with over 20 different Universities in the past. Now, we are expanding our DEF grant program to a wide array of research institutions in search of cures for blinding eye diseases.
In cooperation with The Lincy Foundation, DEF supports the retinal stem cell and optic nerve regeneration program at University of California, Irvine and Harvard University’s Schepens Eye Research Institute. This project funds additional research at nine institutions worldwide. Thanks to the collaborative strength of our strategic partnerships, grants from DEF have produced a strong multiplier effect. They allow many of the sponsored scientists to obtain pilot data necessary to secure long term, high budget support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other large sources of funding. DEF support has spawned many research breakthroughs. |
